What is Fractional MILLION skin rejuvenation?
Dermapen™ or Micro needling treatments are one example of what is known as “fractional skin rejuvenation”, or "collagen induction therapy", a term which gets its name from fractional lasers, the technology closest in theory and results.
Micro needling may sound like an intimidating procedure, no thanks to the word "needle" in its name, but the treatment can be considered a more effective way to do a facial "You're really building collagen and thickening the skin, leaving your skin feeling smooth and radiant for much longer. It is such a safe procedure for all skin Fitzpatricks, and is great for filling in acne scars."
Of course, the idea of getting needles inserted into your face for the sake of skin care can seem intimidating, but if you've seen the before and after shots, there's no questioning the treatment's effectiveness, and instead of using injectable fillers to repair an indented area, the process kick-starts your body's own natural collagen production to heal the skin on its own. Skin specific serums can also be used to activate faster repair and infusion of active ingredients.
Please be advised that not all skin care can be infused, so therefore it is very important to have this treatment done by a Professional with products that are suitable for dermal penetration. We use the founder of skin needling, Dr Des Fernadez, from Environ skin care products, as well as Dermapen™ DP Dermaceuticals and DMK paramedical.
DOES IT HURT?
Surprisingly most of our clients have found it quite tolerable without topical anaesthetic. The process is very quick, taking between 4 to 15mins depending on the size of the area to be treated. Due to the micro needling devices advanced technology the needles oscillate at a great speed and approximately 1296 channels are made per second. The depth of the needles can be adjusted for client comfort and area treated, that is, bony areas such as the forehead require less depth to create pinprick bleeding.
WHICH AREAS ON THE BODY CAN BE TREATED?
Micro needling isn't exclusive to just the face area. The treatment can be done anywhere on the body, particularly for those who have stretch marks, scarring and hair loss.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED AND HOW OFTEN?
6 to 8 sessions on average usually does the trick, but it does depend on the condition being treated. Some clients may respond a bit quicker and others may require a few more treatments. Conditions such as pigmentation and acne can be treated at 2 weekly intervals. Skin rejuvenation, Rosacea, Alopecia and Acne scarring, as examples, require more depth for results, and are therefore performed every 4 to 6 weeks. The results after completing your course of treatments last up to 2 years, but we do recommend continuous maintenance for stubborn conditions, and to keep your skin looking youthful and healthy. My skin motto as everyone probably knows by now is :
CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY TO WELL FUNCTIONING & YOUTHFUL SKIN
Unfortunately, even though we live in the modern era, it is still currently impossible to reverse the damage done over the years in one treatment, or even a few treatments. It takes time, and factors such as sun exposure, lifestyle, diet, sleep and hormonal imbalances to name a few, need to be taken into account.
If you are dedicated, patient and committed to your skin journey, your results in the long term will be worth every penny. We look forward to sharing that journey with you.
